New C270 CDI on order

Hi, I am from the UK and have ordered a C Class 270 CDI Elegance automatic saloon for factory collection from Bremen Germany at the beginning of Sept. Have ordered silver with COMAND, CD Changer, Bose, Drivers Memory Seat, Parktronic, split rear seat, 5 double spoke alloys, grey leather interior.
Reading the forum I just hope I have made the right choice. I almost waited for the new E class as it looks great and maybe the interior quality is better. These diesel engines are becoming awesome. 0-60 8.7 secs, 140 mph top speed and an average economy of 40mpg. This is going to be so different to my current Ford Mondeo 1.8 turbo diesel at 0-60 in 12.5 minutes.
Would really be interested in anyones views on the saloon.

I wish the CDI engines were available in Canada.

C270CDI Avantgarde 2001 Sedan AMG rims and skirts
Hi Apollo,

I've ben driving a C270CDI for almost a year now, and I'm very happy with it. The enigine is very relaxed, with lots of torque a te lowend, and enough horsies at the high revs to get allong.
A friend of mine has got the automatic (I've got the manual transmission) and he's very pleased with it. I couldn't get used to an automatic transmission, but everybody tells me the auto box is really good.

Do you already know when the car will be delivered?

Mark

Hi Mark

Car will be ready end Aug. I am collecting using the factory collection from Germany, Mercedes fly you to Bremmen business class, pay for overnight 4 star hotel, meal and breakfast, pick you up from hotel and then take you to the collection centre and show you around the factory, show you around the Mercedes museum and then show you to your new car. They also pay for the crossing through the Chunnel. This is all covered by the delivery cost that you pay. I will then drive through Holland, stopping at Amsterdam, then Belgium, stopping at Brussels and then through Chunnel to England back in time for the new plates on Sept 1st. This is my first Merc, I used to think they were unstylish and overpriced until I saw the C Class. I had a C220 CDI on demo for a week and I was impressed. I also tried the BMW 320D se and also the Jaguar X Type 2.5 SE. I have bought the 270 for the extra power but I wanted reasonable MPG with the cost of fuel here at £3.40 per gallon. We are ripped off in England on fuel and the cost of the car new. Not many 270 here, plenty of 220 because of the low company car tax with the low Co2 emissions. I would be interested in your overall view of the car and any problems you have had to date, how old is your car?

I'm pretty happy with the car, although I've had my share of problems with it. I've never been to the dealers as much since I bought a merc

Until now I've had replaced:
- Clutch
- ESP sensor
- Oil level sensor
And I've had problems with the memory package (right mirror wouldn't return to the proper position), cruise control, comand and some minor things with the gearbox.

What's really good is the service mercedes provides. Everything is taken care of with class.

I'm still really impressed by suspension. I've got the AMG setup for this car, and it really handles very nice. The engine is also very good. Although you get used to the amount of torque it produces (I want more! .

On the whole it's a very good car, I would buy one again (or maybe wait a little for the C30CDI AMG
