How to disconnect the odometer

I just picked up a 04 C 320 and would like to put a switch on the odometer or disconnect it all together.

that would screw up all the required maintenance too. I mean, how the heck would you know when to do bring the car in for service if the mileage stays the same?

As you may have seen, sometimes, not often, but sometimes we have postings like the one you just did!... and as expected, some forum MB fans get a 'lil "upset" with such requests as the one you posted... ... though I have to agree with Mr. electromethod.. how would you ask such a horrible thing!!!..

I might be able to give you a hand ripping your whole dash for ya if you want???... (no dash... no way to see the odometer... .. though on a second thought.. let me take that back!!!...lol

Mr. electromethod:

What do you say, Should we forgive Mr. NMRA92 and let him live??? or are we not going to tolerate this transgression??? (he --Mr. NMRA92 that is-- is a "newbie" as a whooping 2 posts as of the time of his posting...

Cheers!

The mileage is stored more places than in the odometer and when the mileages don't match, sometimes strange things happen.

This the most moronic and idiotic thing to think of. If you did that, that is illegal and tampering with the miles. That it is consider a felony, let say if you were to sell the car. Secondly, your car title will automatically become salvage if you did tamper the mileage.

take apart your transmission while your at it. hell, lets remove the wheels and then we can save the rubber on your tires. let remove the windshield and save it from pitting.

Missing my beloved Benz
me here

I wished I had turned my mileage thing off. I didn't know Mercedes’ policy on extended warranties. I thought when I bought my car and an extended warranty, that they would add the extended part on the base warranty. Well they don’t. The extended warranty is like a 2nd warranty. When you are finished your base warranty, four years or fifty thousand miles, then that’s when your extended starts. Sounds right, doesn’t it now?

This is the fishy part… When I bought my car, I got the extra 50k or 1 year. I was informed during the time of purchase, that would be 5 years or 100k I would be good and clear. Well that was wrong! After you reach 50k, the mileage or years you bought your extended warranty starts.

So here I am, I got a month to go on my warranty. Sounds really confusing to me, but that’s what I get without reading the fine print or doing research.

I don't think you will get to disconnect your speedometer, but I heard about a guy who figured out a way to roll back mileage. It was in the thread below. I will let you judge.
