318ti race
i wont bore you guys with the whole story, but there is a guy with a 318ti who works in the building next to me. He always rips it out of the parking lot every day . He pulls up next to me on the way to work this morning. If you guys get the pleasure to race one of these cars, you will be shocked. I drove one before, and it felt fast, but the 230 killed this car. Absolutly amazing.

generally, the 318ti is pretty slow... BUT, there are a lot of them running around with Downing Atlanta Superchargers (DASC)... and they will MOVE.
so if you pull up to one with a strange "whhooooosh" comming from under the hood BE CAREFUL!

Either way, the kid was getting out of hand & you had to put 'im in his place.
I saw a 3-series toast my buddy's WRX the other weekend heading back from Cape May. Looked like a puny 325 but pulled away more like a 330. Surprised the heck out of me. My friend says he had a bad start, but he never caught up with the guy. Too far ahead of me to see the badge...

Dodge Neon

FYI:
The 2.0L SOHC 16-valve Neon engine makes 132hp and the old 2.0L DOHC 16-valve made 150hp. Our newer Neon R/T's have 2.0L SOHC 16-valve engine with 150hp due to different cyl head, pistons, intake and exhaust manifolds. I work in the 2.0L Division of DaimlerChrysler's Trenton Engine Plant where all of the SOHC engines are built.
I hope the new SRT-4 takes off - 205hp, 0-60 in 5.9sec all for under $20k. BUT, IT STILL IS A NEON.
I don't think I'll be going back to driving Chrysler Group cars, unless its a Viper or Crossfire.

Don't underestimate the neon. I had the ACR version of it, it had the 150hp engine, and it came stock with KONI adjustable struts. My car pulled over 1g when i put on my other set of tires. That's really good for a bone stock car and for such a cheap price. Acceleration was good too. The car moved. Only problem was that it was a neon.

Mitsu Eclipse Engine
JoRel,
Mitsu has a 2.0L DOHC engine of the same design, but I think they use balance shafts. Our 2.0L SOHC (132hp) and old 2.0L DOHC (150hp) don't have balance shafts. The old 2.0L DOHC has been replaced with the 2.0L SOHC R/T engine w/150hp for the Neon R/T and ACR models. That plant (Satillo, Mexico) now builds all of the 2.4L DOHC (150hp) engines (PT Cruiser, Stratus, Sebring, Minivan, Liberty) including the upcoming Turbo with 205hp for the Neon SRT-4 and 215 for the PT Cruiser Turbo.
The rumors are that DC is working with Hyundai for develop a line of engines for worldwide use. The sized are supposed to be 1.6L, 2.0L and 2.4L. These will be used in small and midsized cars. I'm sure they will have Variable Valve Timing and a few other goodies.
By the way the all Stock Neons compete in G-Stock class for SCCA Solo II racing, the same class as our C230's. I have some coworkers who can really fly in their ACR Neons.

why does every thread i start go completely off topic. Always ends up talkin bout ducatis, mercedes marketing, and now neons?
well anyway, i didnt try to race the dude. we were both in the 2 left hand turning lanes. I was inthe right, and he pulled up next to me. light changed and he jumped off the line tires screamin around the turn. i hesitated around the turn for fear of spinning out going into second(btw, if you ever find an empty parking lot, do about 25 mph in first, cut the wheel and shift quick into second, give it full throttle, and see how far around you can get the backend, i've gotten it about 270 degrees on dry pavement) b the time i hit third i was ahead of him and thats all she wrote. had him by 4 car lenghts when i hit 85.at the next light, he could of pulled up next to me but he didn't
