Exclamation Warning: **** windshield wiper question inside

When putting on my new windshield, the guy told me that the nut for the driver's side windshield wiper was rusted.

I had noticed before that there was no little plastic cover on it months ago, and thought that it was a little penny-pinching for MB to not do it correctly.

Can someone please check out their ccoupe and tell me if I got shortchanged, or if all ccoupes are this way? The car's going under the knife on the 14th again for the blind problem, so I'd like to kill two birds with one stone if I got shorchanged. But, I have to call them on Monday to see if they can squeeze me in earlier, since the weather's getting much nicer.

Talked to my salesrep when I was there - off the top of his head, he knew that the '03 will have the 1.8, so the word must be out.

Finally, I picked up some of those keyhole covers. They look really cool. Good use of 3 bucks (though that's almost two chalupas - the sacrifices that I make for my car!).

What keyhole covers?

And what 'blind' problem are you having? You mean on the sunroof? Good luck...

No cover on mine. I can't see if it's rusted without opening the hood.

Even if there was a cover it would probably still retain moisture and rust.

If it's a problem, pop it off and paint it. POR15 is good for that stuff.

Ouch... I heard that can lead to blockage. Then you have to get roto-rootered.... I much rather keep it clean and open !

Speaking of use, do those rechargable batteries hold their charge long enough for ya?

For those people who didn't ride the short bus to school and had questions about the keyhole cover - there are little black plugs (look like golf markers) that fit into the keyhole slot on the driver's door and the hatch keyhole. They keep the keyhole clean, and look a little better than stock.

Well, if there were a cover for the nut, it wouldn't get any water in the first place, avlis, so it wouldn't trap any. My crx (net worth $3500) has one - how come my $30k ccoupe doesn't?

Let's see - today's words are: nut, plug, and hole. Try to keep it clean, especially daughter Judy.

That may be true- *if* the plug forms a good seal. It's hit or miss. Moisture always has a way of getting into and out of "sealed" assemblies.

The wiper arms on your CRX are exposed, no? The coupe's are hidden under the hood. I bet the plug is for appearence only and serves no purpose for sealing out water to prevent rust.

What you should be complaining about is the cheap nut that rusts after a few months of exposure.

From any dealer

Do a search, and you should find the part #. It starts with "210", but I forget the rest, and can't find the printout of the total # that I used.

Or just describe it, and if it's a good parts dept., it should be able to get it without too much trouble.
