What do you mean, I got 197 HP, 212 ft/lbs torque at the wheels out my 2002 Coupe, drop my ET by a full second. Similar results for many people on the forum. The reason we did this back then, in the good 'ole days, was because there weren't any options, you want power in a coupe you had to mod it. These days, it's easy, just get the C320 coupe, only about $2,500 more, so why spend all that effort and money modding a C230K coupe when there's a better alternative. Then came the C230K Sport Sedan, more Rodeo/5th Ave/High Street than drag strip, not too many people interested in modding that I guess.
You want cheap power, easy, call Lee at aspracing in Houston, work out some arrangement to get him your car for a week or so and he'll design a pulley kit and give you the first one free. He's made that offer before, nobody's taken him up on it.

2003 C230K Sport Coupe, 1986 190E 2.3
I am willing to mod my coupe, but am not one to spend the money on something unproven. Was hoping that someone with a Sedan would do it first give us all a report and then I get out the check book. My wife and I have never been on a real vacation so my money is going to that this year. But that does not mean I will not do it in a year though. I am quite happy with the little Coupey performance. Then again I am looking at getting rid of my 190E next year and upgrading to a C36 or C43!!!!!! May be used AMG power but hell it is more than the weak *** 120Hp I got in that 190......

I know it's unproven but i am willing to go out and prove it.. Do you understand the context of this statement? You must not because if you did,
1. You would have deep pockets and a plan.
2. Since there are few mods for the 1.8k, you would take a product from another application and modify it to fit you car. If it works unproven to proven.
3.If a company is marketing a product it is proven. Good or bad but proven.
4. You are having trouble finding the basic information, and you are going to prove something?
What are you trying to prove? And to who?

1. Use the link button at the top of the page.
2. STFF
3. If all else fails search the internet using a search engine.

You missed a key fact; HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO SEARCH FOR....... He has no starting point, concept or plan. And before searching on his own on the net, all forums, publications, etc pertaining to MBZ need to be exhausted.

It would seem to me that Buellwinkle already gave him a starting point. In this case I agree with Mr. Vitamin Lime . It seems like he is asking the same question over and over again. Searching isn't always easy or cut and dry. $0.02

That should be placed in your signature Mr. Amdeutsch.
I can agree that he is asking the same question over and over. So he must not have understood Mr. Buellwinkle's answer which is why I said he he has no starting point. Maybe I should have said he does not understand the starting point Mr.Buellwinkle gave him.....

I gave him tons of starting points, I listed 4 tuners that can help him, but did he call any? This is quoted from an earlier post in this thread "call Renntech in Florida, Dyno Spot Racing in California or Carlsson and Vaeth in Germany. Mr. Vaeth or Richard Chaing of DSR are your best bet". Then I pointed to a pulley company in Houston who is anxious to get a tester for their product in exchange for a free pulley, but he didn't seem interested. So basically, I think he wants to walk into Walmart, look in their automotive section for a shrink wrapped device call C230K performance booster, spend 5 minutes putting it in and get WRX performance.

Your statement about trial and error, install, dyno, (you forgot the part when we get mad and the disappointment) then uninstall, brought back many memories. Do you remember at last installing the big ticket item that cost way to much but it was going to put you over the hump............. but took you backwards instead? I do.................Oh well....... part of the game.

I must have completely overlooked your post about the multiple sources of companies that you had listed..
You guys are making me out to be some sort of newbie that doesn't really understand much about modifications or even what it takes to get started on a project like this.
No, i do not expect to walk into a Wallmart and get all the parts i need to modify a c230k.
I've done plenty of work on my previous cars and they have been a lot easier to find performance resources for.
What i mean by I am willing to prove it, is that I am willing to go out and risk a purchase to see if they have any gains performance wise on the 1.8k and in that way transferring the information to you guys.
So far this is what I know.
-Changing the pulley wheel on the supercharger will raise boost, hence more HP.
-I would probably go with a full exhaust set up, possibly either in a 2.5 or 3 inch in diameter. (probably something custom made)
-Chip (powerchip etc) will also help for a better tune
Now i've searched up and down the internet and haven't really found many resources.
Thank you buellwinkle for posting the companies that would be able to help me out. I will get on them right away. Also the fact that I live in CA will not help me very much with the Houston resource you listed, but thanks anyway.
Bottom line, i guess i was expecting a much bigger aftermarket support for the 1.8k then there really is. I am dissapointed in a way, but i guess i shouldn't be surprised. It was a lot easier finding resources for my WRX. but then again the two cars appeal to different markets. It will make things harder but thanks for leading me in the right direction guys.

If you wanted to spend the extra money, I would try the RennTech Kit. I believe it was exhaust, some pulleys, and chip for about $2000. The pulleys were a crank and maybe alt and power steering I think. Some say it is too hard to get the SC pulley off, I say try it and send it to Lee at ASP and see what he can do. If you really want to drive the car still then you would need to buy a new SC cone and pulley which I believe are about $2000 as well. Yes the WRX has more parts, same with Honda and Toyota's. They sell more cars than MB sells of the C230 based Kompressor engine. Pitty really that because it is an MB the tuner triples or quadruples the price!!!!

Can I ask what HP/Torque your car did at the crank (+15% maybe)?
What were your 0-60 times and 1/4 mile?
I wish I could get those HP numbers out of my C280 for $2500, it would be worth it.
I bet you surprised many racers with your car!
Thanks

c230 upgrades
take your c230 engine keep it for parts and get a c350 engine at a junkyard and install that!!!! (same tranny) instant 67hp increase and alot more torque... I picked one up with a blown rod for a $1000.00 spent 1500.00 on a good mechanic and 700.00 on parts, this engine with this tranny gives me 0-60 in 5.5 seconds flat.... THERE YOU GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3200.00 no rentec upgrade can give you that much improvement for that money.
