Do you let the dealer wash your car?

Thanks for all the responses about my bi-xenon light going out after 1 week b-day. I am bringing the car in on Thursday to pick up the loaner and get it fixed.

My question is... I was told that every time you bring your car in the dealership they give your car a wash. Now... this past Sunday I washed my car for the first time, and I was very careful about using a very clean hand mit with 2 buckets, one for rinsing and one for soaping it up. My car is black and I don't want to get any swirl marks. Is the dealership concious of this type of thing? Should I just tell them not to bother washing it... honestly I would rather wash it myself anyways, its a fun weekend afternoon thing to do.

I never let the dealer wash my car...they haven't got time to be mindful of swirls as they have so many cars to wash.

Yes...but maybe that's because I know everyone in the service department quite well. I'm sure if you asked them they wouldn't do it.

I insist that the dealer wash my car on a weekly basis, what other reason is there to buy an MB?

Yes you can just ask them to not wash your car.. however, it is such an unordinary request, sometimes they forget that you do not want a car wash. To them, it is a priviledge... for us black car owners, its a curse

Mine just use a drive through car washers attached to the Porsche building! But they do not get the brake dust and half the time don't wash it anyhow. I would rather them not, but I do not really care either way. Then again mine is Pewter so you do not see swirl marks afterward!

I get mine washed at MBSD all the time. They do a great job, including wheels & windows. Last time, I saw my COUPE sitting there being stroked gently by a pretty blonde SA. She even rolled down the windows just a bit to get that top edge clean that is sometimes forgotten when you wash your car. She then rolled them back up and cleaned up the little streaks. Didn't even know I was watching her.

Then again my car is Brilliant Silver. If I had a black car, I probably would do it myself, and ask politely that please do NOT NOT wash my car.

You can tell them not too, but they may forget. I actually stick a sign on my steering wheel that says in big letters, "PLEASE DO NOT WASH THIS CAR". I never bother saying anything to my SA. I just wait for him and the porter, tech, etc, to see the sign themselves. Now they all know me at the dealer as the crazy guy who sticks signs on his steering wheel.

David.

Same goes for Marshalls in Parramatta... they left a heap of white streaks on the bootlid, don't know what it was, but luckily I managed to wash it off.

But they have a nice showroom, and they always have nice cars in there.

DO not let them wash your car if its a dark color! The last time they washed mine I had to get it proffesionally buffed to get the scratches out! Even if I owned a silver or white vehicle I wouldnt let them touch it!

At what point were you told that the dealer would wash your car for free?
Mine never said anything but I haven't had it in for service yet.
