C230 kompressor transmission overfilled
so i changed my c230k tranny fluid today, because i never had any history of the transmission service. i read a lot about what the transmission holds and it’s 8Qts i believe, but that’s including the torque converter. i dropped the pan and changed the filter, and i got 3.5Qts out only. so i thought i was crazy low on fluid so i filled it up to 8Qts, without a dipstick, and then i started the car and i noticed a lot of fluid dropping from the transmission. i guess it has an overflow protection?

Your transmission is now seriously overfilled by 4.5 quarts, as you've doubled up the fluid in the torque converter. Not only that, but you've basically mixed new fluid with a pile of the old stuff.
The only way to check is to measure using a proper dipstick. There are aftermarket ones available but they are specifically for MB transmissions. These cars are very unforgiving on the correct transmission fluid levels.
There is a proper procedure for draining the torque converter as well, which involves removing the pipe connection that feeds into the bell housing.
5 speed 722.6 transmission fluid flush
I wouldn't drive your car at this point. Unless you manage to leak out all the excess I imagine some seals are going to blow.

Instead of draining the TC, I just change the fluid twice.
First change, you’re at about 50/50. Second change 75/25. If fluid was really bad, I might do it a third time, 87.5/12.5.
Valvoline Multi Maxlife ATF from Walmart. $18/gal.

I'm guessing you don't have an oil extractor (best way to change the oil on your c230k btw, it's how the dealer changes your oil). Here is the one I have, but if you search for 'oil extractor' on Amazon a bunch of other more cost effective options will come up (I've had the Pela for 10+ years):
Edit: extractor's tube goes down the dipstick tube and suck's the oil/fluid out.

well, my older fluid didn’t even look that bad and i didn’t see any metal particles in the pan at all. i ended up extracting the extra fluid with an oil pump/extractor. now it’s between the min. and max. 80c.
