COMAND Removal

I want to know how easy is it to remove a US COMAND and put back in the original audio unit. And is it really worth pulling out to sell or just leave it with the car when I sell it?

I searched the forums and didn't find exactly the information I was looking for, but I did get a rough idea of what would be involved.

use the Audio10 install instructions to remove the center console. then unsrew the 4 torx screws and remove the COMAND. if you have the original audio30, put it back in. im sure you can find someone to buy the COMAND unit from you. there are several members on the forum looking for a use COMAND to save money.

Hmm, there's the question of the connectors... the Audio 30 has different connectors. If your COMAND was installed using an adapter harness, remove the adapter harness. If the connector was replaced, you will have to crimp on new pins and insert them into the C-connector housing (which you may find in the back of your Audio 30, or you can get at the same time you purchase the pins).

Check out Paul's website for the pin information: http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/

The connector was replaced, so I'll have to crimp on new connections.

Last time I checked, KBB shows about a $500 price difference between selling it with Comand and without. It's your choice but consider that the more options you have the more someone will want it, unfortunately, you have to compete in price with the have nots so my guess is that people will try to get the car as cheaply as possible. PM me if you want to sell it, if you are in the So Cal area I can help you remove it.
