Lower control arm

A big a$$ pothole turns into a bent rim and oil all over the place. I was not sure where the oil came from, but apperntly after I had it looked at the lower control arm assembly was jacked up and needed to be replaced. I am not mechanically inclined when it come to suspension, so the oil leaking threw me, but anyway $459 later I am back on the road. Hopefully I didn't pay too much.

sounds about right. i had my car in for service. the parking attendent back it out and while turning the wheel hit a councrete pole. pushing the wheel forward and bending the control arm. there was no body damage but bent the control arm. they had to replace it. there was no oil leak either. anyhow it ran about $430 from what i remember from the invoice, though Hoehn MB paid for that.

yeah, i was a little pissed that they damaged my car while they had it. this was the same service appt. i took my car in for the COMAND screen going out. they replaced it, i turned in my loaner car, got in my car and the SRS light was on. so they gave me back my loaner car and i went home. came back the next day and they told me the control was damaged.

So, while turning in reverse he hit the wheel straight on? It would have just missed the body. I can't see that happening again!!

it happened. not sure what you mean about the again part. i had my car in for a Service A, not for the control arm. The SRS light was on when they went to return the car to me. when i was going to pick up my car the following dayt they had told me the control arm was damaged.i was told backing out of a parking space turning the wheel, as the wheel was now out of the fender area, the flat part of the wheel hit the concrete pole, pushing the wheel forward and bending the control arm. there was no body damage to the car. this is what i was told happened.

all i have is a repair invoice showing that the control arm was replaced and paid for by the dealership.
