Launching my AWD C class
Hey all, I have a question for all of the technically inclined. I have a C320 4matic and today i powerbraked (brake torqued) up to about 2000 RPM and then took off... the engine seemed to lag a lot less (it kind of felt like I took the slack outa the transfer case/ tranny). I was wondering if this would damage the Differential for the AWD. I do this all the time in the SLK 32 but it has the AMG diff and is RWD
. It makes lots of expensive smoke out of the PS2s. My dad thinks im
Sorry, back to question, is it bad for the car/ any parts of the car.

Well even regular powerbraking on a RWD car people would say its not good. Just dont do it on a regular basis and it should be fine. (of course anything can happen at anytime though :p )

The damage pattern is well known in the Mercedes warranty database and your chances of a warranty fix are limited.

Powerbrakeing
Very rarely i have stalled my car and i do not go past 1200 rpms and i dont do it for more than 3 seconds if your going to launch dont hold it for say until the light turns green when it just turned red and now your stalling your car for a minute goodbye torque converter... only stall for 2-3 seconds know when your going to launch and do it quickly.. i wouldnt recommend going past 1200 or doing this at all.. like i said this was only done on rare occasions..

Thanks for the advice all. I wont do it that often. Regarding the transmission fluid question, of course I havent changed it yet, I have only run ~5000 miles on each car. I am going to change it on the AMG at 7500 and 10000 on the C. O and btw, it wouldnt be cost effective to change every time I change the oil, b/c oil in the car is changed every 2500 miles.

I did that on my TL all the time... It never had a problem on the tranny for some odd reason in its short 35000 mile life... But I could floor it and it only stays at 2750 RPM... It's like a safety feature I guess...
