Part Identification Help Please
My 04 C320 has been mostly sitting for about 4 years. I was pulling out the battery for some maintenance and noticed that the mice had chewed through the insulation of the wires leading to this device. It is mounted under the cowl at the base of the windshield. You can see the battery compartment and cabin air intake for reference. There is no mechanical connection to anything; just the three wires plugged into it. I'm pretty sure I fixed the wires, but it would be nice to know w hat this part does so I can see if it works. Any ideas for me?

Your cabin air is behind that battery. My 2003 c240 has one of these white boxes inside, does yours? That's a interior air temperature sensor. I don't have a random plug laying around on mine. Does the dashboard say anything about headlights?

According to the internets PN 2118300572 is a dew point sensor. Guessing the HVAC uses that to calculate something during automatic temperature control, possibly with the defrost function.
Is your car LHD or RHD?

The small white disc sensor is dew point. It is used in non fully automatic climate controls, ie digital.
rodents have enjoyed your smog sensor, it’s harness is shared with the sun sensor in your hood and gets power from the dashboard instrument cluster. It also sends a lin line to the back of the digital controller.
be thankful if that’s all they destroyed.
the smog sensor is fun to install...
