W203 - C230 Coupe wheels Advice

Hello Guys,

I want to change the rims of my c230 coupe, currently it has the original factory 17, I want upgrade it to 18 and need some advice.

I was thinking something like this:

18x8.5, front with 225/40R18 - ET45.
18x8.5, rear with 255/35R18 - ET45

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. You probably know this, but, there are Many factors relating to clearance, offset, calipers, wheel wells, etc... in the changing of MB rims. I had a C230k with the optional 17" rims and for various reasons I contemplated changing them. I believe unless you are a MB / Wheel and Tire pro you should use a "Wheel fitment calculator" to get the accurate options with the least headaches and guesswork.
Google "Wheel clearance calculator" and Many options appear.

Not sure which wheels you have in mind but you may want to look at any wheel (including AMG) for the W203 C (fits for sure), W209 CLK (fits for sure) and I believe R170/R171 SLK (been told both fit but can't confirm). There are some OEM 18" options out there.

Couldn't tell you about the offsets of those wheels or whatnot but sticking to OEM wheels for those platforms takes the guesswork out. Direct swap with no new hardware needed. Good luck.

Nice wheels. Which platform are those for?

You'd probably have to use a wheel offset calculator and find out what's available, as well as getting under the car with an old fashioned tape measure. Wheels off newer models generally have a rather different (much higher iirc) offset from older ones. This is why W204 wheels won't fit a W203 without spacers and longer bolts. Then you'll have to worry about clearance against the calipers. Just because the wheel bolts on, doesn't mean it'll clear the brakes. People on the forum have run into this issue.

For OEM wheels, the lower the offset number, the farther pushed out (ie away from the strut, towards the fender) the wheel sits.

These are 18 x 8.5 ET45.

The current ones in 17 are ET35 I think. there is 10mm difference in the ET.
