Today was told from a friend in Germany that they are creating a new racing series (think like the CLK) for the C230 Coupe. Any knowledge on this rumor? Thanks....usre would create a lot of performance goodies for the car.

 

I haven't heard anything about the Coupe going racing yet.

My pet theory is that it might replace the CLK in the DTM when the CLK goes to the E-class platform. Also the Coupe is more in the price range of the other vehicles racing in that series (Audi TT and Opel Astra), which would make sense from a marketing point of view.

There are a number of support series for the major touring races in Europe - it wouldn't surprise me to see the Coupe materialize there (probably as a privateer). Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the Coupe race in the ALMS GT category against the BMWs and Porsches - I think AMG could make it very competitive.
