2005 c240 stepper motor location

So I saw a few videos on YouTube and I'm a little confused on changing the stepper valve on my 2005 C240 the reason is that I'm seeing some videos where some cars are easy to change and some cars are not depending on the year of the C240 . For instance on a 2003 video it was fairly simple right up front but on a 2004 C240 video it was way up top and the top of the dash had to be removed so before I enter into this nightmare job hoping to have the easier one can anybody pinpoint where on a 2005 C 240 4matic where the stepper valve is located . Foot wells the one I need to do cause that is not working . My understanding is that there are a few that do different things and the upper one ore for the defrost and mine are fine so I don't have to take the upper dash apart. The one I need to change "footwells" is behind where the radio sits.

They all have the same stepper motors. Some cars (C230 and I assume C180/200/240) have 6, while C320 has 10 which enables dual zone as well.

How much trim to remove is determined by which motor is broken. All jobs require the removal of the centre console, trim under the steering wheel, and radio and trim. That will get you access to the first 4 motors.

If your L footwell motor is acting up, it only requires removing the radio and associated trim. The upper dash doesn't need to be touched.

The toughest motor to reach is the defrost one, which requires the removal of everything. Guess how I know.

Updated (stronger) plastic linkages are available for both the L and R footwell motors. Your dealer will have the latest PN. In my experience the footwell motor will have worn gears as well. You can open up the motor and check, though I would recommend replacing the motor unless you want to do the entire job again.
