Bay Area Shop

can anyone recommend an independent shop in the Bay Area? I'm looking to get some AMG sway bars installed and was wondering if anyone knew of any shops that do good work around the bay, thanks!

i was thinking there was no way that you could possibly the first to respond to this thread....but u've done it again! hahaha

what about the auto-levelers for the bi-xenons? are those are pain to take off and re-install on the sways?

no they arent. they unclip from the sways and there is a flat area on the new sways on the passenger side for it to attach to. just as they attach on the old sways, they attach the same way on AMG sways. my BIX didnt level properly and i took it in for adjustment to MB. i think that a shop may have the same problem. becuase the AMG sways look no different than the stock sways, aside from being thicker most likely they wont notice. my lights were adjusted under warranty.

why wouldnt i respond, i have AMG sways and factory BIX for that matter. lol!

Don't you need a bigger bracket for the bi-xenons?? I've done a few sway bar installs so maybe I can help if you can't find a shop. I've never done any w/ bi-xenons though, but if it is just clip on then it should be easy...

my bracket was the same. it fastens down to the sway on the flat area on the passenger side.

Try Top Line Performance (I think that's the name) in Burlingame. I hear they do great work but a little pricey.

How much of a difference do the sway bars make? I kinda want to improve the suspension on my car but not sure if I wanna spend the big bucks to get minimal improvement. Thanks

The improvement w/ just the AMG sway bars is dramatic as most people can tell you! Well worth the $200.

Definitely worth the $200 or so. I like taking curves at higher speeds, and didn't know better about the roll with my stock sways. When I switched to AMG sways (just a little thicker than stock), I could actually feel the difference. You can go with even thicker sways (EIBACH, etc...) and probaly a bit of overkill on the COUPE, but I would think would work best on the SEDAN.

I have the AMG sways, I had Autobahn (dealer) install them during a routine service. It makes a noticeable difference from the stock sways, cornering is fuuuuun

How much did the dealer charge for the install of the sways?

I was ripped off, they charged me 2 hours for labor. But IMO it was worth the peace of mind.
