Aftermarket Head Unit Install Issues

Hello,

This is my first post so forgive me on any formatting or other issues.

I am trying to install an aftermarket head unit into my 2003 C240 sedan. When I removed my factory head unit I set all of the cables aside and went to purchase a wiring harness adapter for my vehicle.
I have the new wiring harness adapter but I can’t find the factory speaker wire harness to plug into it. I have pulled out almost everything in my dash looking for it but it’s nowhere in sight. In the picture, the empty slot is the one I am searching for but I cannot find it anywhere.

Are you the original owner?

There is most definitely a connector for the empty spot. I always thought it was taped together (as in bundled together maybe 10cm away at most) to one of the 2 adjacent connectors in the photo. I assume you've lifted and removed all those foam pieces back there.

Where are you located? (yes this matters)

If you can't find it and are not the original owner, unfortunately I'd start looking for cut wires.

Yes, I have removed all of the foam pieces while looking for it. I’m located in Alabama, I am not the original owner, but I believe that the first owner had it here as well.

What system do you have? Do you have Bose or Harmon Kardon?

I believe that it has a Bose system the previous owner lost the documentation and I don’t know of any way to find out. There is one speaker in the rear deck above the trunk.

Did you see any orange cables when you were removing the head unit? Also check the right side of the trunk for an Amp.

There was an orange cable in the back of the factory head unit, on one side of the connector on it there is what looks like a red light and the other a white one. I did see an amplifier in the passenger side of the trunk above the wheel well area.

Your speaker wires are ran through your amp. Those orange wires are the fiber optic cables. They used fiberooptic cables for the amp & CD Changer. You'll have to replace the amp & run new wires from it to the head unit. Can't remember if Bose did fiber optic so it's probably a HK system.

If its a HK system then you may also have to replace the speakers. My R350 has an HK system and the speakers are dual 2 ohm voice coils. Each coil powered by a 25w amp in the amp module.

You could try to run them in series to give you 4 ohms with your HU or separate amp.
