Brake Dust Primer now playing...
I researched Porterfield (non-scientific) on the Net, to get input from various Euro car (BMW, Audi, VW, etc.) owners, and found that people had nothing but good things to say about the Porterfield street pads.
Like I said before, I have a prototype set on my C240/6. Had them on for around 2 weeks now. I like them a lot. No noise. Very nice stopping (actually, I don't notice any difference from the stock pads). But a HUUUGE difference in the amount of dust. I'd say 90% less dust is a conservative estimate. After a week of driving they still look clean, where with stock pads there was noticeable dust after a DAY of driving.
The Porterfields that I have do not have the ability to use the wear sensor. I've advised them that if they were to go into production, they should have the ability to use the wear sensor, because most owners probably would want/expect that. To incorporate the wear sensor would add complexity to the production process, though, and I'm not sure that Porterfield can do it.
I understand that after some time, the factory makes the factory brake pad backing plates available. When that happens, Porterfield will be able to make pads that are full factory fit and retain the sensors. I think until those factory backing plates become available, Porterfield C pads will not be available.
