The rust probably worked its way under the chrome plating on the key. I'd get it duped because it'll most likely rust again real soon.

Who cares? its a *** valet key. I think some people consume themselves with trying to find things to complain about.

How often do you even use the thing?

I suggest you go back to the dealer and request a new one, and make sure you demand a loaner car for your inconvenience.

Hey don't worry about it, had the same problem with mine too, manufacturing problem, they'll replace it.... And to all you who thinks you don't need it, I did...

I was locked out of my car and had to use the valet key because the key was in the ignition.

Hey, relax man, keys are designed to be weather proof, which includes getting wet. The chrome plating should've protected it from rusting, but it must of found a chip to work its way underneath and rust it out. Like I said earlier, just get it duped. With the chrome plating gone, it'll rust again very quickly.

see my thread

Or get out of the car, close your driver door, leave the passenger door open, lock the doors, throw the keys in and close the passenger door.. make sure you have a spare on you and the valet key works
