I've a 2003 C230 sport coupe that I've finally determined needs a cooling fan. From EPC, my fan is a 600watt model, mercedes part number A203 500 02 93.
I've looked at Autohausaz and FCP Euro, and prices are like $475 and $540 respectively. Some other places in the search were anywhere from 200-300, and Amazon has some from a company called Boxi as low as $175. I'm normally a stickler for OEM or OEM-quality parts, but paying a 1/4 of the value of the car for a single part makes me wonder if the cheap alternatives would be ok here.
Has anyone tried the Amazon or cheaper part routes? I'm not really thinking used Ebay at this point.
Well this in interesting. Here's a page from Pelican Parts. Notice any difference? EPC has two listings, both of which say "up to A666024", both under part number A 203 500 02 93. No other notes. So, before you order a fan, note which side the electrical plug is on your car. Autohausaz and FCP Euro only show the one with the connection on the right side.
Just a follow up: There's a short wiring harness from the bottom plug, that runs alongside the fan and connects to the fan controller, secured with some zipties. The blue/green connection at the controller was obviously corroded. Some scraping and contact cleaner fixed it right up, saving me a lot of money.
