Sirus Radio
I ordered my 2005 and it will be ready for pickup on the 11th of this month. I ordered it with the Entertainment Package and I was curious how easy would it be to add the Sirus option to it. I think the 2005's and late 2004s are pre-wired for the Sirus Radio.
My friend has a 2002 BMW 530i and he added the Sirus Radio a few months ago, but it looks stupid having the Sirus module attached next to the radio using velcro (Cheap looking) . If I added Sirus to my new Mercedes would I have to settle for the same cheap look?

That is my understanding, is that the dealership can add this without problems, as this is already pre-wired.

yes the dealer can add it without any problems. its not an aftermarket unit per say. it is hardwired to your head unit, totally consealed and seemless integration.

There are lots of options that are not worth it to many, for example, I just can't see spending that kind of money on an automatic trans, or premium leather. Consider that until recently, it used to cost $1k just for a CD changer in a W203 and I use my XM radio more than I use the CD changer. But with sat radio we have alternatives and I'm happy with my $100 Roady..

The SIRIUS costs $679 as a factory option. If these vehicles are all prewired, it seems unreasonable for a dealership to charge $1K for this drop-in component.

Nobody every said MB dealers were reasonable. The MB CD Changer in the parts dept. is also about $679 but some dealers get as high as $1,200 for the add on (if it didn't come that way from the factory). We all know that's a half hour job but most just pay it.
