MB coupe.
I'm in love.

Got my new car today. 71 days after I ordered it. Very helpful salesman at the dealership.

Very pleased with performance, and handling. Hit 165 km. on the way home. It didn't feel that fast.

I'm having a hard time keeping the revs down. My previous car was a '97 Prelude, and it revved to 7500. All the power was in the top-end. I like the mid-range power of the MB.

Wife is delighted, she says it feels tight and solid. She is right, it does have a solid, connected feel.

Stereo seems weak, lights are very bright. I keep forgetting I have a 6 speed, and finding myself cruising in 5th!

Arrived with the Michelin tires, look very nice.

Time to study the manual.

Good man

71 days is coming up fairly soon for us - our car was ordered 56 days ago so by your standard we have another 2 weeks to go. Being in the same province, I imagine the wait is in the same ball park.

Let us know your impressions of your new car!

Try not to rev up yr engine before the break in period. You will find it very tempting, but I really dont want you to regret when you feel the car become sluggish later. And try to forget about the driving experience of the Prelude, once you have driven an European car (especially German), you dont really want to go back to Japanese. European cars are way more solid than the Japanese. The more you think/compare the Prelude to a MB, the more you like yr C-coupe!!! No question about it.

Enjoy!!

Rev the car as high as you want. Just don't floor it or put a heavy load on it for the first 1000 miles or so. You are establishing wear patterns for the engine now. The best way to break it in is to run the engine over the entire rev range gently increasing the rpm and never running at a constant rpm. In a modern engine there is no reason to limit rpm, just the stress placed on the engine from hard acceleration. Every engine broken in this way is smoother at all revs and lasts as long if not longer than an engine that has been babied.

I agree. Search the forum for "break-in" for a lot of comments.

Dont want to confuse you...the idea of my original post was like what others have said, I did not express myself clear enough. What I meant by "dont rev up yr engine" was not to hard floor it and not to keep it at the same rpm for a long time. Since you're in the BC interior, I imagine you have to travel some highways every now and then. It'll be no good at 165km and keep the same rev for a period of time. Afterall, you have to drive your car one way or the other.

MB coupe.
Prelude vs C230

I find the performance about the same. Very similar horsepower, it just comes on differently. The Honda had all it's power high in the revs, above 5000 rpm. I find the MB to get lots of torque much earlier.

Acceleration feels about the same, but you had to really twist the tail on the Honda to get it to go.

You sit lower in the Prelude, but visibility is better, especially to the rear.

The MB is quieter, and steering is more precise. That could be just the difference in tires.
