Please post pics of COMAND from Steve
I'm thinking of getting a COMAND from Steve, but need to see some pics of COMAND - turned ON with a picture of a map. In other words how it looks when running.
The reason I ask is I just went to see SL 55 and it had COMAND in it - the 05 model, it looks very nice - the map is awesome, voice is very clear etc.
For some reason all pictures of COMAND I've seen from Steve have kind of yellowish map... looks totally different, is this because those devices are several years old and outdated?

I don't think they look yellow, it's sort of a beige, could just be lighting. There are 2 display modes, day which is beige and night which is black but you can pick the display mode or automatic. I have a "Comand from Steve" but I got it second hand from someone else that switched cars and installed it myself (the installation guide from MB is on my website). It works OK, not the best navigation system, certainly not as good as what I used before, TraveRoute Live on my laptop but it is integrated in the car, the voice is very clear (you can pick which speakers the voice comes from, how loud, how much to mute the radio and basss/treble of her voice). Also what's nice is it starts working immediately because it knows how fast you are going, how much distance you traveled and the gyro tells when you made a turn before it locks on to the requisite number of satalites, something Traveroute/Garmin/Magellen don't/can't do. For example, sometimes it can take minutes before the nav system locks on the satelite, in that time you don't even know what direction to go and it's very annoying.

This is what I've seen today in action:

I'm assuming Steve can't provide that kind of software/map/os whatever it's called.

Sure he can, but for an SL, not your '03 W203. You can get a fancier touch screen nav system like the one from Pioneer but it won't integrate into the car as nice and look factory. The Pioneer is a great looking system, played with it at CES and they certainly have the best I've seen.

yeah but if i remember correctly steve told me that the only way to put an 05 nav into a previous year w203 then all of the wiring would have to be switched out as well. maybe he or his sister can confirm this.

You cannot compare a newstyle DVD comand - which is MOST based - with an older CD rom comand - which is D2B based...MOST based comand systems don't fit and won't work in D2B based cars.
