C220 CDI
Suspicious Wiring

Afternoon all

I’m new here and need some help. My C220 CDI is running in limp mode and the OBD has picked up a number of faults that I have worked on and cannot for the life of me understand why the engine light is still on and it’s still running in limp mode.

That was until I discovered some ‘strange’ wiring in the fuse box (picture attached)

When I remove this ‘bypass’ and place the fuse in its correct position the engine will not start! However in its current set up the engine will start but still runs in limp mode and has the engine light on. I cannot find anything mechanically wrong and I have cleaned the EGR and checked the MAF and can’t find anything.

I have had some electrical issues too. The dashboard would reset (but it looks like I may have sorted that) and the sunroof won’t open either.

I NEED YOUR HELP!

Thank you all

Wow. That is ghetto. I would agree with Sunman.

Keep us posted. Not sure if your diesel fuse box is different from the gasoline variants, so can't really help you there.
