Audio 20 Bluetooth Options

I'm looking into adding bluetooth to my '07 w203 (audio 20, no phone pre-wiring). Searched around on here and haven't found much discussed in the last decade and there seem to be quite a few new solutions on the market these days. There are reasonably-priced aftermarket modules that tap into the MOST like this one:

Amazon Amazon

Seems to get okay reviews and people on Rennlist seem to have had good luck with them.

But I've also found some really cheap options on eBay like this:

"Really cheap, eBay, and ships from China" is a typical deterrent for me but occasionally there will be a diamond in the rough on there. Has anyone had any experience with one of those eBay units? If not, I'll just go with the MOST adapter.

Believe it or not this actually worked very well for me and uses the AUX function built into the system. It doesn't use the phone buttons on the radio or steering wheel but it does stream music and you can use your phone hands free. Can't beat the price. https://www.ebay.com/itm/363276442224

Did you figure out how to add Bluetooth to your car? I have a 07 C280 and am planning to do the same thing. It looks like the removal of the CD player is inevitable, which is a big headache.

Removal of the radio wasn't that hard. This works well on my 07 C230. I use it every day. Streams and works with the phone, pretty much like a bluetooth speaker. I assume your has the same radio. Instructions to install are pretty sketchy but can be figured out. You will need to move the optical connector from the OEM harness to this one to keep the CD changer working. Best part is no splicing or power wire hunting. Everything comes from the connectors.

Wow, that's an aggressively low price point!
  • Overall is it reliable?
  • Compatible with the steering wheel/dash phone controls? Can the dash unit access the phone contacts or dial the phone?
  • Can it function with the analog aux in in the glove compartment? I don't have it or a CD changer but am wondering the feasibility of hooking up the factory 3.5mm analog input that clipped into the glove box lining on the earlier cars.
  • Where did you stash your microphone? Thinking of ways to hide it in the overhead console by the lighting buttons.

Just curious what the overall experience is like. Also trying to figure out the best installation strategy so I only have to pull the center stack apart once haha.

Thanks in advance!

Reliable? Yes
Steering wheel control compatible? No
Access phonebook? Don't think so.
Can it function...? Don't know. I don't have the aux jack in the glovebox since I have the CD changer.
Where did I stash the microphone? Between the instrument pod and the AC controls. No running the wire anywhere outside of the center console area that I took out to get to the radio.
As previously stated, the system works similar to a bluetooth speaker. You can stream your music from your phone or talk hands free. For the price I figured it is a bargain. Plus I wanted to keep the OEM radio / CD system.
