Angry Mercedes C320 year 2005

Good morning all
I have a 2005 Mercedes C320, with 152,000 miles on it and recently I've noticed that when I'm in cruise mode that the engine power drops off for just a split second
and the rev counter will rise for the same split second then settle down, it happens about every 6-8 seconds then settles down SOMETIMES.
I think this tends to happen MORE OFTEN when the engine is hot, this also occurs when I'm just on the gas pedal.

in conjunction with this when I need to pull away fast there is a power lag for about a second then the power kicks back in.

last night after a 150-mile drive home I lost 90 of drive and just managed to limp onto my driveway, I tried the car this morning and everything seems normal. could this be down to a low transmission oil level?
it was last changed about 10 years ago.
any help would be much-appreciated
regards

keith

Check for codes in the transmission. Other options are bad MAF sensor or low fuel pressure.
