Battery warning light
I have a 2003 C240 recently the Digital information center has started lighting up red with the battery symbol. My alternator and battery are about a year old, last week the light came on and I sweated out a 7 mile trip home when I got home I checked the battery voltage 12.5 V so I started it (it started fine)and checked the voltage with it running and the headlights and A/C on 13.6V. the light has come on several times since then when it does I pull over shut the car off and re start it, most of the time the light doesn’t come back on and remains off the rest of the trip, when it does the battery doesn’t go dead.

Is the alternator a new one or a rebuilt one?
The voltage regulators are known to go bad (cold joints) on the older W203s. Is the VR new on your car, as opposed to a reused one?

I got the alternator from AutoZone about a year ago, it was the most expensive one they had it came with a new VR, they claim it is new not rebuilt.
