2005 C230K SS vs 2001 CLK320 Coupe

I'm going to have to buy a new car in the next few weeks, and i'm having some trouble deciding. Both the 2001 CLK320 and the 2005 C230K SS cost about the same ($30K), and they both look great and seem to have consistantly happy owners. I'm well aware of MB's reliability issues and the cost of repairs, so that's a "down" for the CLK, but it's also much more luxurious, roomy, and comfortable. What would you recommend/suggest? What factors should I take into consideration? Thanks. I'll be buying this car in Vancouver (BC, Canada) so I won't get the great SoCal discounts and i'll be paying above invoice.

'05 C230K SS
If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely get the '05 C230. It's a newer model by 4 years!!!! And it looks much sexier than an '01 CLK320.

Plus, unless you are dead set on a coupe, why drive around in someone else's car. Get your own brand new MB!

Sure, but the used car is more roomy, comfortable, and luxurious. A new CLK320 costs $50K, while a new C230K SS costs $30K... there's a reason why it costs $20K more. The question is whether the four year difference really changes the car that much?

Depends what you want. C230 is a fresh sporty-lux Sedan. W208 CLKs are dated boats with archaic interiors.

i like the 4 door more nowaday. the c230 will be more fun to drive than the clk320. the soft suspension and lack in steering feel is great for long drive however. I drive my sis's car every now and then. it's still a very good ride. ours a 00 clk320 btw.

Don't forget warranty, the 2001 CLK factory warranty will expire soon where the new 05 has 4 more years left.

thats true, even a starmarked car will have a warranty, but youlll get a car with more miles, as well, for more money and a dated body and interior.
