I just got an estimate for $445 for the complete front end. It's quite expensive but I think worth it. I hate chips and $445 is a small price to pay to not have to worry about them.

I'd say the opposite. My Brilliant Silver car is a PITA to touch-up, it never matches 100% at all angles. Dark coloured paint, especially the non-metallic is very easy to touch-up.

Hrm i've had my black mb for almost 3 years now and the rock chips have never really bothered me. I mean there are some, mostly on the hood, otherwise i can't really notice em unless i'm waxing/polishing the car and looking pretty close at the paint. But i also live in LA so bumper to bumper traffic doesn't get you too many rock chips.

Hey guys

I bought my c230 last weekend and they had it on a black car it's a lot more noticeable than a light color car like silver. I was going to get it because here in Oregon, they throw gravel in the winter time and it really beats up your car. But they were asking about 900 bucks and I say "WTF" and away!

rock chips have never been too much of a problem for me either until i got my house in florida. drove my bmw down there once and it got killed w/ rock chips. mostly the front bumper. so bad i had it resprayed a few weeks after getting back. now i have the colgan leather bra just for long road trips and it works great, although looks horrible. other than the long trips however, their really not too bad. clear bra will work, but i hate the lines it leaves. i can always spot them out. especially on darker cars that do the film by the rear wheel wells. i see alot of M coupes and roadsters with that.

Black Car

Ok, so the film protectors look better on cars that are not white or black.

The car I have on order is metallic orion black, what choices do I have? I definitely do not want a vinyl bra on the car, I just don't like the look.

Has anyone compared what film looks best on black?

I am not going to do a part of a body panel, to avoid the line between covered and uncovered.

I have a black 02 C32 and it's more like every 2 years the way the paint chips off. Body shops can't apply the same heat that the factory does so it apparently is never as strong either. I've had bumper recoated twice already and the shop has told me there are only so many times they can coat it. I guess they would have to strip it all the way down at some point.
