UPDATE:
I was pieces of the emergency brake hardware and shoes behind my rotor making the noise. But now I have it up front and loose hardware is not the case (made another positing).
Bad rubbing and scraping sound after new caliper and new brakes. Now because it was cheaper and a chart on eBay said it is compatible, I got a SLK 280 rear caliper for this '01 C240 and it fit fine. Could that still be an issue?

Depends on the generation of the car it came from. Check with the dealer. Why are you trusting some eBay compatibility chart? 
Take the wheel off and physically check. Brakes could be seized.
