M271 engine powerband

Recently I did couple runs on my car, and try to figure out the optimal point for shifting. (Get the Fastest acceleration) BTW, if anyone of you wondering what I was running for.....track time, etc.... No..I am just running for fun

I notice the 1.8L Supercharge engine has plenty of power from 2500RPM (Sometimes I hear the supercharger doing its thing) and all the way until about 4500RPM I felt the car doesn't pull as hard anymore. Is it because I've already pass the Maximum torque on the powerband?

Shouldn't I still feel the "Pull" all the way until 5800RPM (Maximum HP)?

After passing 4500RPM the engine feels like its outta breath and not getting enough air into the engine. lol Maybe its the stock paper air filter keeping air from rushing into the engine?

P.S. There's no problem with this car, I just want to know if most of you agree with the "Feel" for this engine. I have a 2k5 6spd C230 Komp. Sedan.

I don't know, ever since I added my plutonium converter, my C230's been pulling pretty hard up and down the tachometer.

According to MBUSA.com

Net power 189 hp @ 5,800 rpm

Net torque 192 lb-ft @ 3,500-4,000 rpm

But sure feels like the engine start to run outta breath after 4500RPM

well, peak Horsepower should be at around 5800. What you're feeling in the sense of the engine out of breath feeling is that the TQ peaks at 4000 and just flat lines at 192lbs till redline.

Make sense?
