Should i replace my timing chain?
So my fathers w203 sports coupe has the m271 1.8lt engine. The cars runs fine and now has 300.000km. Will the timing chain start to wear out faster? Or if there was a problem it would have shown in a lower milage? The car did 20.000km oil change that i dont think is great. What should i do?

This one is a tough one. Seems to be hit and miss in terms of failures. Oil change intervals and oil quality seem to make the most difference for this.
If you want peace of mind, change the chain. But some may say it's unnecessary. I'm at almost 250k km on the original chain with no signs of failure. But I also use only MB approved oil and stick to 15k km change intervals.
According to the others, the chain makes a rattling noise on startup when it's about to go. Unfortunately by the time you hear this you are days from a catastrophic failure.
