depends on the weather
I have driven several C320's with 18's and the ride is not harsh at all as a matter of fact I believe the ride is better because of the improved steering response.

My 18" 2/5s are staggered (8" in front, 9" in back). I also have custom suspension (sort of a must with +2 wheels). After all's said and done, I like my ride better than stock. It's not so much harsh as it is firm. Handling and steering response is vastly improved.
BTW, "bling bling" is a catch phrase derived from the song of the same name by BG and the Cash Money Boys. It denotes the "sparkling" (hence, "bling bling") of their jewelry, watches, etc. Big baller is slang for someone with a lot of money and no hesitation to flaunt his wealth.

daez nutz...
you have exactly the setup i am looking for: carlsson 2/5 brilliants, staggered. How far does the metal stick out from the wheel? i have mulled over the decision to get these carlssons for like 4 months, i think i am just gonna do it
after the winter.... since i dont feel like skidding into a ditch and dying.

I absolutely guarantee you that you will love these wheels on your car. I'm sure you've seen pictures, but they look ten times better in person. You won't be able to stop grinning for weeks.
The spokes in front are about flush with the face of the wheel. The rear wheels actually have some lip.
I also highly recommend the Bridgestone S-03s. They're arguably the best performance tire on the market, but they cost less than Michelin Pilot Sports. Ask Luke from Tirerack, Mr. Vanos, or anyone else who's had experience with them.
The Eibach springs lowered my car a little over an inch. It was a modest drop, but I think it's necessary with the 18" wheels. If you keep your factory ride height, the car will definitely look "raised up" with the bigger rims. H&R springs will lower your car even more and give you a stiffer ride.
Not to break your wallet, but if you do get springs, you should probably get performance shocks as well. The factory shocks have a hard time keeping up with the stiffer springs, and your ride comfort will suffer. All of these parts add up quick, but you'll be amazed at how well your car handles and how responsive your steering becomes. It's like a new vehicle.
Hope this helps.
