Cruise control not working

I got an 02 C32 AMG and the cruise control doesn’t work. I’ve tried the lever at low and high speeds and it won’t engage. I don’t have any warnings on the dash, and no fault codes for ESP/BAS, or any codes mentioning cruise control. I confirmed the right size tires and wheels are on the front and back of the car too. Any ideas what the issue might be? Or what to check next?

Could be a faulty cruise control switch. A bad switch doesn't throw any errors. See DIY link for instructions.

My cruise control stock is slightly different than that under that link. Mine has wires that go down into the dash. Any idea where they go and what needs to come off to get at the connector?

I would read the ESP codes using a MB scanner like iCarsoft, see if you have a
intermittent bad wheel sensor. Not sure if it reads state of the cruise control switch, but I
recently troubleshot an issue with m'lady's ML350 stuck in Park which turned out to be the
Gear shift switch and very cool, live data was able to to read it and see when I pushed Park button etc (7 speed) .
Very useful feature! I was so happy, that it accurately diagnosed the problem. Told me the switch was bad and it was.
I could read the state of just about any button in the car! I was skeptical as I also had a buttload of CANBUS comm errors, but
the one error that kept coming back was that switch. But it's now fixed.
I'll have to see if it reads my C for the cruise control.
I'll try it and see and let you know.
Better than randomly replacing parts.

OK, so I went through all the menus on iCarsoft. Amazing how much data this thing can actually provide.
I wasn't aware of most of the features of the unit, since when it comes to engine codes it mostly says
"unknown" and I had pretty much written the thing off.
But if you look at each module indiviually and look at the live data, you have access to a myriad of data and sensors.
Unfortunately the cruise control switch is not one of them.
The wife's ML has a readout of the status of single every switch in the car, and while the C has some it doesn't have all.
Brake light sensor is there, as are mirror switches and other things.
Within the ECU screen, which I think is called MEI or something like that under live data it does have
what it calls a cruise control test, but with the car standing still all it appears to show is the
RPM's of each wheel when the car is moving. This might be useful in diagnosing the problem.
Also reads the wheel sensors etc in the ESP section.
But nothing for the cruise control switch itself.
Sorry.
If you had this you could at least eliminate wheel sensors which yeah if one failed would put the car in limp mode,
(Happened to me) so yes, most likely the switch.

The cruise control quit working this weekend on my 02 disco SEII. I checked the fuse that runs it and the electronic mirrors and it was fine as the mirrors still worked. Any ideas? Not mechanically sound here. On another note, wife said heat or air wouldnt come on on the way to the gym this morning but then came on on her way to work. Any relation to the cruise not working? Electrical problems? Thanks for any help
