2006 Mercedes C230 Sport
06 c230 sport cylinder 2 & 5 misfire
Vehicle had been running great minutes before loosing power while in motion, CEL appeared on dash and idle was rough. Plugged diagnostic and cylinder 2 and 5 misfire. With engine running pulled coil electrical plug off and no change to engine idle at both cylinders. Replaced spark plugs,coils, fuel injectors , Mass airflow,Throttle body. Pulled intake manifold inspected vacuum hose swirls,flaps, pump diaphragms. I tested the coil plug for power as well as both injectors.

Unfortunately, you may be experiencing the symptoms of a manufacturing defect. I suggest that you research the balance shaft failure that appears to be a problem with the engine installed in your car. This is one of many articles on the subject.

Unfortunately, you may be experiencing the symptoms of a manufacturing defect. I suggest that you research the balance shaft failure that appears to be a problem with the engine installed in your car. This is one of many articles on the subject.

There are several possibilities in addition to the balance shaft problem. You may find some other suggestions for items to check in this thread.
I have a 2005 C230 with the 4-cylinder M271 engine. I don't have any experience with the 6-cylinder engine in your car and I'm not able to do much except suggest sources of information.
The moderator in the thread I linked (Rudney) seems to have firsthand experience with the issue affecting the M272 engine. I recommend that you consider adding to the threads he has responded to and see if he can offer any specific guidance.

Does anyone know if the signal coming from the ECU has any affect on cylinder 2 and 5 ?
