SCM DTC B1358 B1359
I'm using an Innova 5610 scan tool to try and resolve some issues with my mother's 2003 C240 (Base). I'm getting two codes:
SCM [MRM] - Steering Column Module
B1358 (STORED) Component S4s2 (Headlamp Flasher And High Beam Switch) IS Defective
B1359 (STORED) Component S4s4 (Winshield Washer System Switch) IS Defective
She took it to a local chain shop to have an inspection done and they charged her $800+ to swap out the turn signal assembly. The switch works and everything functions as it should, but is throwing codes now.
The assembly does not appear to be an original Mercedes part, I'm thinking they used aftermarket because from what I can tell there should be a DOT SAE number on the back of the stalk. Could be wrong.
The question is, could using an aftermarket part be causing the codes to appear? I'm just looking for opinions before I spend more money and replace it again with a dealer supplied unit, as they are still available.
Thanks in advance!
