high kelvin temp bulbs. looks like a ticket waiting to happen.
most tuner shops carry those setups now, have you tried looking around? though i heard they are going to outlaw the sale of them, not sure how true that is though.

no thats not a brand. philips i hear makes good HID kits. pretty much hard to tell the brand of an HID kit from the color of the bulbs. the color will be the kelvin temp. the more blue/purple the higher the kelvin temp. the more yellow the lower the kelvin. just from what i remember when i researched HID kits for my VW. that was in 2001. so maybe somethings have changed, id try a search.

Doug,
Your memory isn't failing you. MBs are at 4300 factory. Higher is bluer and less visibility. And yes it has been discussed to numerous times with links, etc.

In New Jersey, where that car is from, those light bulbs are legal. My Dad use to go to Jersey all the time for blue and purple lights for his cars/trucks. I have the same city lights in my Benz, where in Delaware, there isn't an issue with them. Not to say they are legal here, but knock on wood, I have not had a problem with them.

they sold them here in Cali. not sure if they do anymore, but the box specifically said for off-road use only. the person putting them on their car was responsible. DOT regulations make them illegal i believe, which out weighs state regulations i would presume.

That's totally true... But who is the one giving out tickets? Hmmm, State troopers, state police, etc. Not many federal agents giving out tickets for wrong color light bulbs. Thanks to our country and its rules, Its double sided sometimes on issues like this and a few other things like charging people of are handi-capped for parking. The Federal government says you can not charge someone who is "handi-capped" for timed parking but States, Counties, towns, etc... are charging dear ole' slow grandma who has a handi-cap card and even giving her a parking ticket if she misses a minute on the meter.
Same thing happened to california state when they legalized smoking POT. The federal government says its illegal and, to what I remember, a few years ago would arrest "state-legal" residents with a prescription.
Stupid things really get me fired up, and I can go on and on about this issue on the government. So I'll just say, Hey... if you like it, do it and enjoy your life.

i totally understand your point. no need to convince me. i haven't the required amber/red side marker lights on the side of my car, so im commiting a double standard as well. oh well, i take my chances and hope that some bored cop who is between twinkies, realizes that bearclaw looking thing missing from my front strip, is really a DOT reuired amber side marker. then ill be in toruble. can get PTS strips with amber lights in em.

In NJ, that car would fail a roadside inspection and draw attention from state and local police. Any...and I do mean ANY...alterations to lighting is illegal (we can't even add xenon's or PIAA fogs legally).. That said, with the new laws passed in June, that's going to cost you $106.00 for the ticket, plus 3 insurance points for the violation (carries for 3 years), then you have to get it re-inspected by the DMV to provide certified documents to the court proving it's repaired.
Ah yes, the dumbocrat gestapo-homo gov. found another way to dig into our wallets....

either way, lighting laws are strict and they are cracking down on lighting las, especially aftermarket HID's. those plug and play kits you buy at the Honda tuner shop. "HID litez wiht 9,800K". the brightest purple ever seen, a true rival to barney!
