Headlights malfunction
Some time ago a house key fell into the cigarette lighter socket and shorted a fuse. I replaced the fuse and later found that the auto function and manual light switch do not work. On the manual light switch I could only turn on the main lights but not the parkers. The parking lights work when locking and unlocking with the electronic key but not with the manual switch. Have replaced both sensor (in front of centre mirror) and manual switch (both second hand) without success. The car is 2003 C200 W203. Can someone help please?

I recommend that you search using the term "Front SAM" and see whether anyone had a similar experience which they resolved by replacing the front signal acquisition and activation module.
The front SAM is the module with a multitude of fuses and relays in the engine bay adjacent to the firewall on the driver's side. Among other functions, it controls the headlights. The common wisdom is that it is easily damaged by voltage spikes.
It is also possible that the second-hand parts you installed are also damaged. I've had that happen to me.
