C240 ran out of gas,now no start

2005 C240
C240 ran out of gas,now no start
I've got a 2005 C240 that I let run out of gas. I put in 8 gallons of premium and it's showing half a tank. The low fuel light is still on and it will not start. Fuel pressure is 51 psi. I turns over great and will occassionaly hit but not continue to run. I did bleed about a quart of fuel through the test port before attempting to start it. I attached my OBD ll scanner and it showed no codes. Any ideas would be appreciated..

Fuel filter? Lots of crud in the bottom of tank.

It is possible to cook pump in an old car when running out of fuel. You should be able to hear the pump priming on key on. Check fuel pressure.
