Knocking sound from front wheels
Hello! I have a problem with my w203, a 2002 c270 sedan. I have a knocking sound in the front on rough roads. I have changed almost everything that can be changed underneath the car, even the steering rack and steering rack mounts. One shock absorber has not been changed because the mechanic said it was in good shape and the bearings. The sound seems to come from the steering rack even though I mounted a steering rack rebuilt in a good shop. Source of sound seems to come from that part of the steering rack that connects it to the steering wheel. Any advices/solutions?

How about the sway bar end links? 2 ball joints per side.
Any competent mechanic should be able to use a pry bar and find any loose components. There are only so many in a car.

As I said almost everything is new except for a shock absorber and both bearings. Both sway bar links are new, I bought them from a good brand, so the problem is not there. I will try to upload a video with the sound tonight or tomorrow morning

I forgot to mention tough, the noise seems to disappear when is raining, so when the car gets wet and also the sound is very very similar to the knocking of sway bar end links.
Also the car slightly pulls to the right side when i leave the steering wheel free on any speed. On the right side is the shock absorber I changed like one year ago, also good brand and pretty expensive

Must have been the torque setting, after i tightened it, it was OK after that..
I found lifting the front of the car, then using a lever to rock each wheel/tyre up and down, can help isolate the noise?..
It can be hard to pinpoint with the engine running, so being able to create the noise with the engine off is a great way to isolate the source..
