mirror folding problem on 2003/2004 Sportcoupe with power memory seats
Hey everyone,
I have recently bought a 2003/2004 Sportcoupe. Manufactured in October, 2003. Pre-facelift. EU model. Came out from factory with power memory seats and xenon headlights.
Now I can't fit in the garage because of the mirrors, and becoming more and more frustrated. I don't know how to fold them.
I've did an extensive reading (including the "Folding Mirrors Thread - All You Want To Know" thread here too), and it seems if its an EU model, with power memory seats, it should be capable of power folding. I don't have the small fold in/fold out buttons above the four-way round button that sets the mirror angle.
On the board computer, in the Convenience menu, there is a "mirror setting when parking" option, which I believe isn't related to the folding but for tilting the mirrors in reverse. (BTW, I've turned it on shortly, but didn't seem to work.)
What other way I have to fold them? How can, at least, check if my mirrors have motor in them?

If you don’t have the button on the headlight switch, you don’t have power folding mirrors.
The feature you highlight is to drop the right (curb) mirror down to a setting you select and store for reversal assistance.
The w203 to my knowledge, does not have manual “fold and stay” mirrors, but pedestrian impact spring load.

My new question is that are the mirrors on the SportCoupe the same as on the sedan/estate? The sellers on ebay either list their items as W203 or CL203/SportCoupe mirrors, and almost never indicate they're good for both. That's confusing. They look so similar!

The mirrors are identical between coupe/sedan/wagon. Not sure if you can simply retrofit the folding mirrors. It may be something that can be enabled in software, but it may also require replacing the seat modules. Also there may be extra wires required that your car doesn't have. At the bare minimum you'll need a new headlight/mirror switch.

Thank you! I hope a few other members will chime in too and confirm it further, just to be 101% sure.
You're right, there can be further complications, but I have to start somewhere. I've read that EU cars with power memory seats are prepared to handle power folding mirrors, and no need to replace the door control modules. We'll see.
It would be also nice to know if I can reuse my current non-power folding mirror covers (I mean the painted part of the mirrors) on the power folding mirrors I buy, or they're different. If I could use my old covers, it would make my life much simpler...
