Cl203 2003 (w203 sports coupe) vibration in drive
Good day lads,
I am experiencing vibrations when I put my 5g automatic gearbox in Drive / Park.
The vibration stops after I start driving 10km+ and I can still hear something rubbing while modulating the throttle, but it goes away depending on how hard I accelerate.
The vibration STOPS once I put it in neutral.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

The car accelerates normally, there is no lug, no signs of rpm drop and such, just poor fuel economy (10-11L urban) on the OM611962 2.2L 143 hp engine

How many miles? I get a lot of vibration and noise in the cabin.
I need new motor mounts, heck it's 22 years old!
Not an easy job though.

I doubt it's motor mounts consider it only happens whilst in drive. Even if I rev the engine in neutral there's no vibration like it does in Drive.
G'luck with your mounts!

Throwing it out there, but on the gasoline models for that era (M271) the alternator 1-way pulley seizes up. They now use a different (updated) pulley. The symptoms are pretty much what you described there. I forget if it happened in P, but it definitely happened in D and R (and not N) with the vehicle stopped. The rubbing/squeaking is from the belt slipping on the pulley.
Not sure about the fuel economy part though.

Pleasure to see you again.
Speaking of which, I think you are right. I do not really remember it vibrating in P, only in D.
And most likely the same system in on diesel enginess, I'll have that checked
Thank you!
