02 C220 Coupe - where to mount smartphone?
Hello
I'm having trouble finding a good place to mount my smartphone for Waze etc. which I use daily. I've tried some vent hole clip mounts, but since the vents on mine move up-down very easily, it really doesn't help as the phone gets angled downwards. On previous cars the vent adjustment has been quite stiff, so this wasn't usually an issue. I'm not entirely sure if I want to drill any holes for a permanent mount, so I'm asking if anyone has found a solution? Suction cups on the windshield have never worked for me (in any car) and in my coupe I find it to be extra distracting.
The car is W203 220CDI Coupe - 2002 and my interior looks exactly like this:

Personally I'd try to build something adjustable that would attach to the car inside the tray below the radio. Not too hard to design something, or modify some sort of existing product.
As for the windshield suction cup thing, I find they work better in general if you 1) clean the glass with some rubbing alcohol, and 2) add a drop of water to the suction cup or glass before attaching.

I have my phone mount attached to the vent above the headlight controls. The vent angle drops down but my mount is adjustable so I have the mount pointed as upwards as possible and it works.
What I used on my other car, which has a cheap 3 dollar mount that isn't adjustable, I stuck a screw between the vent opening so it can't drop down. A screw will damage the plastic so it would be wiser to use a piece of rubber.
