Crank sensor voltage
Hi all, I am helping a neighbour with a non-starting 2006 C200 CDI, W203 from what I understand. For some months, it has suffered a bad running on exit to roundabouts, and last week, on the way to his sons' house, it coughed, smoked white (or light blue?) and as he arrived, it stopped and will now only start and stop after a few seconds. I have an icarsoft Pro-plus, and found a rake of random codes, deleted the lot and started again. It signalled glowplug failure, so I changed them all. Only two were faulty when tested. It then would only show me zero fault codes, but there was a "synchronisation " problem. So he bought a crank angle sensor and a cam position sensor and he/we fitted them. It is now telling me that the crank angle sensor is faulty. I measured the voltage at the plug, which is 2.3 volts pin to earth on both pins. The old crank sensor had 750 ohms, and the new one 1000 ohms.
Can anybody tell me what the voltage should be at the crank sensor plug ? The cam sensor has 5 volts, so I think the crank sensor should have 5 volts also. When starting, if it bursts in to life for a few seconds, the Icarsoft shows sync as ok, then it quits and sync is again no good. Fuel pressure during cranking is 350bar and engine speed 250/300rpm, battery is new and I maintain it charged. HELP !
