Crank sensor voltage

Hi all, I am helping a neighbour with a non-starting 2006 C200 CDI, W203 from what I understand. For some months, it has suffered a bad running on exit to roundabouts, and last week, on the way to his sons' house, it coughed, smoked white (or light blue?) and as he arrived, it stopped and will now only start and stop after a few seconds. I have an icarsoft Pro-plus, and found a rake of random codes, deleted the lot and started again. It signalled glowplug failure, so I changed them all. Only two were faulty when tested. It then would only show me zero fault codes, but there was a "synchronisation " problem. So he bought a crank angle sensor and a cam position sensor and he/we fitted them. It is now telling me that the crank angle sensor is faulty. I measured the voltage at the plug, which is 2.3 volts pin to earth on both pins. The old crank sensor had 750 ohms, and the new one 1000 ohms.
Can anybody tell me what the voltage should be at the crank sensor plug ? The cam sensor has 5 volts, so I think the crank sensor should have 5 volts also. When starting, if it bursts in to life for a few seconds, the Icarsoft shows sync as ok, then it quits and sync is again no good. Fuel pressure during cranking is 350bar and engine speed 250/300rpm, battery is new and I maintain it charged. HELP !

It's definitely possible that your new crank angle sensor is defective. Maybe try swapping one at the store where you purchased it. Are you using OEM parts?

The owner (my neighbour ) bought both the cam sensor and the crank sensor at a motor factor, so no, they are not OEM. Latest of today is that I put it all back together and reconnected the battery, left it for 20 mins, and tried a start. The iCarsoft told me the only fault code was B1036 the roof system not normalised, and another check told me "synchronisation of control modules N73(EIS [EZS] And N3/9 (CDI Control unit is being performed. Whatever that means.!

Did you have any luck with the car?
I have the same error Synchronization of control module n73 (EIS [EZS] control unit)and N3/9 (CDI Control unit) is being performed: No.
