2023 C300w/AMG package
Well here's the finished product.
I ended up cutting the bottom off the ring...with a kitchen knife, since I didn't have a hacksaw or anything nice.
I'd already mangled it a bit, so I may pull it out again and
futz with it a bit more.
I spilled alcohol on the AMG sticker, and when I tried to apply it,
the vinyl part came away from the adhesive. Damn, but then I noticed, it actually looked cooler than the black, like it's etched.
Less in your face, so I left it.

Yes, I had to cut the bottom of the outer ring.
Try to fit it into the part of the housing with the clear front, and you will see it does not fit, so when you mount it on the dial face, and then push the housing on it gets smooshed. It's just a little bit too big.
So, cut the bottom off, and then you can make it fit.

Be careful when you take the cluster in and out to have the key turned off.
I pulled mine with the key on, and threw and SRS code, but then again it might have been due to my HID lighting kit disaster.

We don't need no stinking hooks!
Just take a regular pair of pliers (bet ya didn't know standard pliers have a wire cutter, or did ya? Just above the part that grips nuts and bolts)
and cut a wire hanger. Cut the straight section in the middle, and cut the ends off.
Now you have 2 perfectly straight pieces of wire.
Shove 'em down inside the holes, it's not the hooks that releases it,
it's just a clip in there that when you push something into it, it releases.
They'll go in a good 4-6".
Then the whole thing just pops out.

Sure, making your own hooks works. I would do it in a pinch, but if you're not, don't bother. The MB hooks are so cheap, like less than $15 for the pair, and they work perfect. I don't want to risk scratching up the cluster holes with coat wire.
