command or avn2454

i saw jc230k's post of his eclipse avn2454 nav unit..

and i was damn intrigued by it..

im going to either purchase a command unit or the avn2454 nav unit...

which one do you think i should get? i do plan on adding a amp/sub later.

btw i drive a w203 05 ss. so the command unit i would be getting would be a dvd based one...

well the dvd comand will cost you $2500 installed by Steve and the avn2454 will cost just about the same, maybe a lil more after installation and a custom kit to house it. it depends on what you want to primarily use it for.... view movies and listen to mp3's or mainly to use the nav option. i have an '03 cd comand that cost $1500 but was also looking at the avn2454, and in the end i got the comand cuz it was cheaper and integrated seamlessly with the car. personally...if i were you i'd get the avn2454...there's just so much more to offer for roughly the same price.

I have a toyota version of the AVN in my lexus and I love it. It's an awesome system, touch screen also and map is very detailed with building shapes too. But when it boils down to it, I would never lose that mercedes benz factory appearance and functionality. THe DVD based system is much more superior than the one installed in previous classes. Screen is larger also. Go with the Benzo one!

Go aftermarket if you can stand the look.

i say command, it will look so much better in your car then an aftermarket unit. Personally i feel the aftermarket head units look ugly as hell in a benz.

i would definetly go with COMAND. the intergration is awesome, plus after market you wont have the MFD displays, and steering wheel controls like you do with the COMAND. then get linguatronic and your all set.

Have you guys even seen the AVN2454? It looks completely stock and built in. Also, Kenwood has a 7015 (i think that's the number) that has a similar OEM look.

So the Lexus is a Fujitsu/Eclipse unit? Anyone can verify that?
