C230K oil in coolant not the other way around
Howdy long time no post. I’ve left my W203 to the wayside for a while after I discovered this issue and now I am trying to resurrect it. So here’s what I got
2004 C230K coupe build date 09/03 M271 engine
I’m getting oil in the coolant but no coolant in the oil. I’ve seen a few threads that have noted this faulting oil coolers, radiators, etc. Now that’s all great but does anyone have a rational way of figuring out what the failed part is short of replacing piece by piece?
It looks a whole lot like engine oil but I’m thinking could it be dirty trans fluid and a Valeo rad?
It seemed to be a decent amount of oil but interestingly it wasn’t milkshaked just floating separate. Any advice I’d appreciate TIA.

Unless you see something leaking on the exterior of the engine I dont see how you can tell there is a leak inside somewhere. On my M272 I noticed oil seeping from the oil filter housing so I replaced both gaskets in there which solved the issue. I havent dealt with oil in the coolant before thankfully.
I would start with replacing the oil filter housing gaskets which doesnt cost alot if you diy. Should be able to see if the gaskets failed and was the cause of the issue. Flush out all the old coolant, clean the reservoir or even replace it.
