Will a used EIS, ESL, ECU + Key kit cause other problems?
Hey everyone,
My son and I have a chance to buy a really cheap 2002 c230k Sports Coupe, but it has the dreaded EIS failure. Getting the EIS replaced by the dealership will cost more than the car is worth. So we are considering getting one of those kits on ebay where hey sell you the the VIN-matching key + EIS + ESL + ECU out of a donor car. My question: are there any other major modules in these cars that are VIN-coded to the ECU? For instance will the TCM have a problem with the replacement ECU from another car?

Actually the TCM shouldn't be a problem.
They can be exchanged without any coding, just matching the part number.
I wonder about the MFD though. Will it display the correct mileage?
And somewhere the transmission stores the miles along with the mfd and....
something else, i forget at the moment. All 3 have to match or odo reads 999999.
So if all 3 don't match ECU, then what? Also VIN won't match.

all programming in ECU will be wrong.
