Fuel gauge never rises over half a tank
hi i have a 2007 c280 3.0 Liter 4 matic, fuel level never ever has gone over half tank since ownership , car runs well but this is annoying. I scanned the car and got the following values.
car currently has about a full tank and the passengers side is full of gas to the top , i have not checked drivers side. Does anyone know what may be happening here?? is the float bad on one side? which side is left? the drivers side?

There is a sensor in each half of the tank. On the R side it's attached the fuel pump. The L side has a bunch of hoses and a gauge attached to the sending unit. Both are located beneath the round covers beneath the rear seats.
The car displays the average of the 2 readings. If I were to guess, the sending unit gauge is the problem since the value is much lower. Good news is that it's not terribly difficult to install. Just be sure to tie a string or wire to the lines before removing the old unit, as it includes the hoses that go over the middle "hump" of the tank.
Dealership will have the correct PN for your car. The W203 has several variants and the 2007 one I think is unique, as the fuel pump is different for just that year (fuel filter is internal).
