Pictures from Meguiars Day

Meguiars Day was great. Bill (wblynch) and I closed the place down. We gave our cars the full treatment and finished up close to 5:00 PM. Mike and Tim from Meguiars were gracious hosts providing breakfast and lunch. The NXT Tech Wax left both or cars super shiny as well as others that stayed to do their cars. They also provided gift buckets filled with goodies.

Pictures at the link below. Click on the thumbnails to see the picture and then click on the picture to see the full 4 MP picture....

That was a Meguiars DA buffer. It's a little pricy at $225 but they had 10% off for them event. It worked better than I thought as I'm an old school high speed buffer guy. They did half the hood on a totally swirled up black car and it came out pretty close to perfect. Don't think I could have done a better job with my high speed buffer.

yeah im freaking pissed too. i had family emergency that came up yesterday, at 4am. i am going to email mike tomorrow and apologize for my absence. not like me to not show, especially at an event like this. i am very pleased to hear that there was such a great turn out.

nRo, i meant to post a reminder earlier in the week. i have swamped at work and school and by the time i had a chance to do so, it was friday night.

edit: really nice pics too. makes me even more mad i couldnt go!

Thanks for posting the pics, Buellwinkle.

I felt a bit wierd, showing up to a Mercedes event with a Jag. But the little lady wouldn't let me experiment on her C-240 Wagon and my Jag had all those swirl marks.

I went to Lowe's today and got the Porter-Cable version of the Meguiar's polisher. It doesn't have the lifetime warantee or the polishing pads and it might not be as good as the Meguiar's one but it was half the price.

Meguiar's also allowed us to place an order for anything in their catalog for 10% off and free shipping.

I ordered up a bucket of stuff that should be here by next week.

Now, where's Jane hiding that wagon???

yesterday, I saw a show about car detailing on TNT (i think, not sure of the channel). they interviewed this guy. he's some famous car detailer for the stars. instead of using a chamois, he was using baby diapers. he said they worked better than a chamois

How old was the show? Professional detailers stopped using baby diapers years ago. For a while Griots sold towels that had stiching that did not scratch (baby diapers have stiching that can mark paint).

Most professional detailers use microfiber towels, the better ones like Meguiars Ultimate's are amazing. They work better and don't leave scratches.

i think it's very recent (not a re-run) . the guy also went to the lady's store to buy the make-up brushes to brush away the dirt and particles inside the cars he was detailing. for the windshield wiper liquid, he recommended using evian drinking water ! he said it was better than the solution that most car manufacturers were using

That's my Jag. I did feel silly leaving the Mercedes at home and showing up in an off-brand.

For those that missed the event and want to learn more, Mike Phillips has posted some great detailing information here: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/

I was especially impressed with the Meguiar's G-100 Dual Action Polisher which has its own section on the Meguiar's forum. There are some great tips there. Take a look when you get a chance.

Told you! The DA buffer is excellent on black especially imo. I prefer menzerna products to meguiars however.

I'm convinced, picked one up at Lowes for $99 last night. I've never been a fan of Meguiars products and had more bad experiences with their products than good but at the event they used products that aren't available in stores, that you have to buy direct that were very good, as good as the proffesional Malco products I have been using. Also I've been using Lake pads for years and Meguiars pads where poo but they've fixed that too, their pads are just as good as Lake. I had a very bad experience with their clay, left residue like I was claying with a bar of soap, but that's also fixed and their clay worked as good as anyone elses clay (never thought anyone can mess up making clay). They look like they made great progress and are taking their products more seriously, at least the products they don't sell in stores (except their NXT that they sell in stores, I really like that now over Klasse, easier to use, better shine).

absolultely great learning experience ! Highly recommend going to one of these Meguiars events. Doug, too bad you couldn't make it. Hope everything is OK. Should think about organizing another one. Mike was showing me his event calendar online, and was pretty much booked all the way through February 2005.

Got a BUCKET full of cool goodies, and ordered a bunch of stuff from the catalog too (10% off and FREE shipping).

That Meguiars Dual Action Buffer is awesome. If you buy one directly from Meguiars (yeah a bit more pricier than Lowe's or Home Depot), you get a LIFETIME Warranty (full replacement), plus the backing plate and one pad.

Great pics Buellwinkle... I really like that Silver Coupé next to the Bill's JAG !!

We should book the February dates now, could go under MBKlasse next time.

Also don't forget to reserve your tickets to the "BIG" Meguairs show for Car Crazy on the Speed Channel. They hold it at the new Kodak theater, all formal Tux, except the low riders who looked great in formal Zoot suits!!

Buell, did you put on two coats of NXT? Keep some booster wax and final detail in the trunk, your car can look like a million buxs in just 15 minutes once you have the NXT base on it.

Carlos, your's is one sweet Coupe, wish ole Citron had showed up.

Breastroker, I put two coats of NXT back to back, one by hand and one by machine. What's the big show about? How much are tickets? When is it?

Saprissa, those where the 3 best cars at the event! I don't think I would use it enough in my lifetime to burn it out, Porter Cable power tools I have last.

The Meguiar family would like you to join them as their guest to celebrate the collector car hobby and honor the 11th annual Meguiar's Award winner in 2005.

Buell, I know youre proud of your new sedan, but that pimped out C-Coupe to the left makes both the Jag and your sedan look pretty ordinary. Wow... Love those rims. Nice ride!!!

Carlos'es ride was very nice, not trying to compare my bone stock sedan to his, just glowing in his shadow. But for the record, mine was shinier, specially after 5 PM....

Nice! So you have an S-type and the X-type as well? I think the S type is one of the most gorgeous Sedans made.
