Trans conductor plate

2007 c230. My vin is WDBRF52H87F927808. 96,000 MI I've had some small conversations about some conductor plate related to the speed sensor that is often a problem in the transmission that can easily be dealt with during a transmission fluid service. Does anyone know what this is all about? I'm wondering if it is definitely something that is always a problem or if it turns up by some set of symptoms that are catastrophic or not catastrophic and how easy it is to change it or whatever. I've also heard that if you change it you have to do some crazy reprogramming or whatever. Does anybody know anything about this and how much I should have to worry about it

When you get the known conductor plate failure the transmission won't engage and it will be like your in neutral. It failed me without warning or symptoms. The conductor plate unbolts when you have the transmission pan off. Not a hard job. They claim that the transmission must be "reprogramed" after replacement, but I saw a YouTube video where a guy just swapped the plate out and it worked fine. If it's working there nothing to do until it fails and it's not worth worrying about.
